dear dde,

i would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for your very active participation in our recent conference in montreal on the “future of aviation”。

the chairman and board members have also asked me to pass on their sincere appreciation for your efforts in supporting the institute in this important undertaking。

your skill in chairing the controversial panel on “the role of developing countries in the future of aviation management” was highly appreciated by those representing all sides of that extremely sensitive topic。

as well, we have received numerous post-conference requests for the paper you delivered on “the critical issue of cooperation between airlines and airports”。

it appears that you my have penned a best-seller with that one!

on both a professional and a personal level, i really appreciated the time that the two of us were able to spend together for fun and reflection during conference down times。

i certainly learned a lot about the unique aspects of aviation operation in your part of the world (not to mention the things you taught me about the backhand on the squash court!)

we are currently hard at work producing the “compendium of conference proceedings” document, and we expect to be sending it out to all participants early in the new year。

Dear all,

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude to my parents for teaching me to be positive and to be strong. “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” is the opinion held by Aristotle. It is the experience of our forefathers, however, it is correct even today, including my parenting.

It is widely acknowledged that parenting, which can also be explained as family education, is of great significance in our character forming and manner acquiring. To be more detailed, setting good examples instead of just giving precepts is the greatest achievement of my parents. They not only taught me to think for the best and prepare for the worst; they taught me how. They not only told me the benefits of being strong in mind; they proved it. All those things require huge amount of time and work, but it’s worth it.

Without my parents’ contribution and education, I would never be who I am now. But most importantly, I would never be more gratitude to them than today.

Yours,

Dear Sirs

I'm the resident of Beverly Hill, where the fire accident had occurred in the evening on April 3. I'm writing this letter to let you know how I appreciate the help with which I was provided by your wonderful staffs on that accident.

The accident occurred while I was cooking with some oil, and my wrong attempts to extinguish the fire by myself made the matter worse. I was too panicked even to call up the security, and I went all the way down to the L4 by the elevator and finally got some help by the two security persons: Chu Chi Ching and Lee Ping Fai who had already known about the fire and coming up to our flat.

The fire became even bigger while I was going out to get help, and when we came back, our flat was already full of smoke. Recalling the situation of that moment, I can't imagine how they could have been so brave to go into the smoky room to put out the fire only with a hose in their hands. Because of their very prompt and brave extinguishing attempts, the fire was soon shut down before the firemen had arrived. It was so lucky for me to have such a brave and professional securities inside the building. Thanks to their efforts, our damage was minimum.

Even after the accident, the work that your Management office provided immediately for me was so much sympathetic and very helpful. Although it was already in the evening, so many staffs of the Management Office including very informative and reliable man, Mr. Tong, very kind and sympathetic guy, Mr. Ng and a lot of cleaning staffs, came up to our flat and helped me in many ways; cleaning up the messy room thoroughly, consulting about a lot of things, letting me use their own mobile phone, and so on. Without their help, my family, including small children, could not sleep in our flat at that night. The accident itself was of course a tragedy for me, but actually I felt happy in a way after having a chance to contact with the real bravery and the kindness of the HongKong people: your staffs.

Thanks again to your tremendously remarkable staffs; Chu Chi Ching, Lee Ping Fai and to all the members of your wonderful Management Office and your very capable cleaning staffs.

Yours

Makiko Shinohara

The Resident of Beverly Hill
